Breede Valley Tourism, Worcester

Breede Valley Tourism : unique and caring Valley of service excellence, opportunity and growth where majestic mountains, fertile valleys, vineyards and vast plains covered with indigenous vegetation captivate the soul. The region has a population of 166 000, covers an area of 2995 km2 and comprises of four towns:

  • Rawsonville (90 km from Cape Town)
  • Worcester (90 km from Cape Town)
  • De Doorns (90 km from Cape Town)
  • Touws River (90 km from Cape Town)

Breede Valley is one of the largest wine-producing areas in the country. The Hex River Valley produces the largest annual quantity of table grapes in the southern hemisphere!  It also hosts one of the biggest pre-cooler in the Southern hemisphere as well as the winery with the longest harvest season in the world!

The two major wine routes that are already a major attraction are the Breedekloof Wine Route and the Worcester Wine & Olive Route. As well as this wine route tourism, the Breede Valley also highlights the natural environment as a tourist attraction such as the Karoo Desert National Botanical Garden, canoeing, fishing in the Breede River, hiking in the various mountain ranges and promoting other adventure sports that are becoming popular in the region.

4×4 is a major attraction in the Breede Valley and boast with a 4×4 training centre. The Breede Valley is home to two Big 5 Safari attractions and also boasts with two golf courses, an 18 hole Gary Player designed golf course in Worcester and a 9 hole golf course in De Doorns. The ATKV Goudini Spa in Breedekloof are also a major attraction. Other attractions are the Worcester Museum, a cultural history museum with a strong focus on agriculture, the Hugo Naude Art Museum and an architectural walking route.
